Palmyra: Chad James Heaven died on January 5, 2016 at the age of 28. Predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Ann Heaven and James and Evelyn Newman. Survived by his parents James and Janet Heaven, his children Alexis Marie and Holly Elizabeth, his sister, Elizabeth (Alvis) Sanders, many aunts and uncles, James (Kathy) Newman, Brenda Newman, Phillip (Diana) Newman, and cousins Denielle and Christina.

Chad served as a Sergeant in the US Army from 2008-2013. "Chadderbug" was a kind, generous, loving son, brother, father, nephew, cousin and friend.

Sadly, Chad's journey through life included experimenting with drugs. He fought his heroin addiction for the last 10 years. Chad's family would like to raise awareness of this devastating epidemic. When I saw your names I freaked out. My brother is James., I have a sister whose name is Elizabeth and I’m Janet... that was really weird.
I’m writing as I’m dealing with the loss of my husband through an accidental overdose ( not sure it was accidental). I’m part of a group in California that is called Solace for Hope...a wonderful group of people helping keep the memories alive for our lost ones. May your Chad rest in peace... even your last name.I believe he’s in Heaven... free!

Janet, james and Elizabeth - I am so very sorry for the loss of Chad. I met Chad a handful of times and he was such a good kid full of life and always wanted to talk about music and I really am fortunate to have known him. I greatly appreciate it how how he treated Elizabeth as his big sister and was always trying to be aware of who he trusted with his sister because you loved her so much. He was a loyal brother and son. It took him a little while to warm up to me and any of the people that Elizabeth hung out with because he wanted to make sure that she was surrounded by good people. Chad I wish I could take the last ten years away and have a fresh start. I was sad to hear about the last two horrible weeks in the hospital. To my brother; I love and miss you so much. You did so much to help everyone around you even when you were hurting inside - especially in the past few weeks you helped me so much... I knew Chad from school, the neighborhood, and later, he became a friend.

It is tragic that he left this earth at such a young age. Please know he will never be forgotten and the love and laughter he showed others, will live on through his children, and the memories it left with us all.

Praying you find peace as Chad's struggle ends. Few people have the courage to share as you have. May your candid remarks help others. So many young people never know their brain chemistry and genetic makeup predispose them to addiction. Caught in uncontrollable dependence without any conscious choice. Parents, addicts are too often ignored as they beg for help, struggle for solutions. My tears join yours.
