Rochester: born in Gaeta, Italy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at age 93. Predeceased by his father and mother, Erasmo and Maria Macera; brother, Antonio Macera. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Giuseppina (DiTucci) Macera; daughter, Maria (Antonio) Tucciello of Italy; sons, Ray (Patty) Macera, Anthony (Marlene) Macera; grandchildren, Valeria and Francesco Tucciello of Italy, Christopher, Marisa, Anthony, Gabriella and Michael Macera; brother, Franco (Rose) Macera of MA; sisters, Rosa DiFonzo of CT, Giovanna (Mario) Pasciuto of MA, Rina Stamegna of Italy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Assuntina Macera of Italy; Angelina Fedele of Italy, Erasmo and Franca DiTucci, Giuseppe and Salvina DiTucci of Italy; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Macera was a member of the Gaeta Society of Monroe County and served in the Italian Army during WWII where he was awarded the Bronze Medal of Honor.
Friends may call SUNDAY from 3-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Monday, November 4, friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Sacred Heart Cathedral. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, NY 14615 in his memory.
