Wagner, David A.

Brockton, MA: David A. Wagner, 63, of Brockton, MA, passed away on December 1 at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, MA, after a brief battle with cancer.

David was born in Ontario, Canada, to Harold Wagner and Dorothy James Wagner on April 22, 1950. He attended school at Rush-Henrietta High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was a highly decorated serviceman, having been awarded three Purple Hearts for wounds received in action, two Silver Stars for gallantry in action, eight Bronze Stars for heroic or meritorious achievement in combat against the armed enemy, three Air Medals, one Soldier's Medal, four Army Commendation medals, and the South Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, amongst others. He married Maryl Parry (divorced) of Henrietta with whom he had two children, Graham Wagner and Leigh Wagner Schirmer. He owned and operated Able Pest Control in MA for 15 years. He was a voracious reader and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandaughters.

David is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Wagner and his nephew Shawn Meehan.

David is survived by his father Harold Wagner of Pittsford, NY; children Leigh and Matt Schirmer and grandaughters Camryn and Anna of Penfield, NY; Graham and Kati Wagner and grandaughter Lucia of Park City, UT; his sisters Margaret (Dave) Behr of Henrietta, NY, Kathy (Patrick) Meehan of Chaddsford, PA, and Karin (Al Whyte) Wagner of Conesus, NY; his brother Jim Wagner of Rochester, NY; and numerous other extended family members and friends whom he cherished. He also leaves behind his wonderful girlfriend Amine Thiam who loved and cared for him tirelessly until his passing.

A memorial service will be held in early spring at Faith United Methodist Church in Rochester, NY. A date has not yet been set.
