Isaac Andrew "Drew" Morris Obituary
Morris, Isaac Andrew "Drew"

Clifton Springs: Isaac Andrew Morris (Drew), age 93, died on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, July 11, 2013, 3 PM at the Spa Apartments Chapel. Private burial will be in the Pearl Street Cemetery.

Drew was born September 15, 1919, in Clifton Springs, NY. He was the son of the late Isaac Andrew and Harriet Lisk Morris. He graduated from Clifton Springs Central School in 1937. Drew graduated from Syracuse University in 1941 and entered the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the 58th Bomb Wing and worked on the experimental B-29 Bomber when it was conceived. He was discharged as a Major in 1946. After WW II, Drew and Marjorie returned to Clifton Springs, where he took over the operations of the Lisk Company. He took the company from making sprayers and flame arrestors to designing and manufacturing solenoids principally for military applications. G. W. Lisk was incorporated in 1953 and today remains at the same location in Clifton Springs although now with over 550 employees and over 330,000 square feet. Lisk has expanded to include factories in Ireland and China, becoming a worldwide recognized supplier of solenoids, solenoid valves, transducers and still making flame arrestors.

As part of his interest in Clifton Springs, Drew became involved in the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees until his death. In addition to the hospital, Drew and Marjorie have been responsible for much of the restoration and preservation of Main Street Clifton Springs. He and Marjorie renovated and expanded the former railroad passenger station to become the home of The Clifton Springs Library. Drew loved traveling and the many adventures he enjoyed with his wife, Marjorie. He was also fond of inventing, woodworking and gardening, and was an avid reader who especially enjoyed history.

Drew was a very private and non-assuming person, never seeking recognition. He truly believed in community service. When asked why he had given so much to the community, his response was typically short: "Because Clifton Springs is my home."

It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Clifton Springs Hospital Foundation (2 Coulter Rd., Clifton Springs, NY 14432).

Drew is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marjorie of Clifton Springs; his children, Anne (Leopoldo) Morris Mancilla of Clifton Springs, Dr. Elaine (Clive Gamble) Lisk Morris of Southampton, England, Robert A. (Jody) Morris of Clifton Springs; grandchildren, Brian Andrew Morris of Canandaigua. Andrew Mancilla Esq. of Brooklyn, Anthony Mancilla of Los Angeles, CA; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Mancilla. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St., Phelps.
