Rochester: April 8, 2014. Jackie was the 3rd child of 8 born in her home City of Rochester, NY on May 11, 1929. She was a high school graduate of Jefferson High School where she was very active in school activities and graduated with honors in 1946. She then met and married Ronald Paul Overmyer at the age of 18 on Valentines Day in 1947. They started life together in Rochester and early on in their marriage they moved to Brockport and successfully raised seven children.
Jackie had numerous accomplishments in life. One of many was to assist her youngest daughter who was born with cerebral palsy. Jackie's vision, energy and involvement led to the development of the Al Sigl Center to obtain assistance for her daughter and others who need those valuable services that continue today. Throughout her life she has continued to volunteer in children and senior services until her health started failing a few years ago.
Jackie processed the greatest of human spirit and love for all that she met. Continually throughout the years her home and heart were always open at any time for any one who needed a hand or an understanding ear. Jackie leaves us loved by so many people of different ages and walks of life. There wasn't a day she didn't have a positive impact on people she met. Her life remains a personal testament to the love, integrity, strength and kindness that one finds in so few. Jackie and her indelible spirit will be greatly missed.
She lost her husband of 43 years in 1990 and unfortunately witnessed the passing of her oldest son Thomas John Overmyer in 2009. Jackie is survived by her remaining children, Karen Ann Overmyer, Ronald Todd Overmyer, James Paul Overmyer, Stephen "Ove" Overmyer, Jerry Robert Overmyer and Jackie Sue Overmyer. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
