Sweeney, James A.
Lima: Died suddenly on April 13, 2012, at age 61. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Bernadette Sweeney; son, Ethan Sweeney (Stephanie Cummiskey); brothers, John "Jack" Sweeney, Dan Sweeney; sister-in-law, Judy Sweeney; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Sweeney; son, David Sweeney. Jim was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He was in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Lima Rotary and past Scout Master of Troop 246 at St. Monica Church.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the O'Connell-Dougherty Funeral Home, 2041 Lake Ave., Lima. Thursday at 10 AM, his Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose Church, Lima. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401 or the Wounded Warriors Project, c/o Chris Bridenbaugh, 2014 Dublin Rd., Penfield, NY 14526.
