John was a dairy farmer with a green thumb, affection for all animals, and a knack for fixing things, which made him invaluable to the 365th Infantry while serving as a mechanic and driver in the Panama Canal Zone. He worked for American Can for 30 years. He volunteered for many causes including the Palmyra Farmington Food Pantry and helping out as a handyman wherever he was needed. John was a longtime member of Zion Episcopal Church, where he served as the Church School Superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, reading, watching old movies, and spoiling his pets. He was a loving, patient husband, father, and grandfather.
