John Lucas Obituary
Bloomfield: Age 83, went home to the Lord peacefully on January 22, 2014. He is survived by nine children, Michael (Kathy) Lucas, Mark (Joyce) Lucas, Joyce Smith, Bradley, Richard and Jennifer Lucas, Robert (Kris) Lucas, Adam Lucas and Bradley Lucas Jr. (fiancee, Brittany Marble); 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard and Alvie Lucas; sister, Barbara Ann Smith; dearest friend, Marilyn Millage; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lucas loved music and was an accomplished guitar player.
Friends may call Saturday, Feb.1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 2 South Ave., Bloomfield. His funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14621. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.

A Great guitarist and always ready to lend his accompaniment to a musician that would like some support :) Always enjoyed listening to him when I could and catching him Sundays with the backsliders at the East Avon Flea Market pavilion. I'll remember Johnny as joyful soul.
A wonderful example of humility and grace. Two years ago he had all the hot bluegrass upstarts at Howie's party "slow it down" and take just a closer walk with him. It was like magic.

Johnny,was a guitar hero to me. He was so talented, He always encouraged others to sing/play.We always welcomed him into our home, and he loved to play on the sound stage.His special friend Marilyn was very supportive of him.We shall miss him, greatly. Dave, Lisa.

John was a true gentleman, when he spoke to u it was like you were the only one in the room,,,I got the peaseure of meeting him at Dave Lawerences' jams in the barn and it was awesome, I loved to listen to hear him play and he will be deeply missed, now he has a a huge audience in heaven with the angels, hugs and prayers to his family ,God bless u all, Sincerely:

John touched so many lives with his music. I run an open mic in Geneseo, NY. He used to come quite often, and whether he played, or just listened, he was always so encouraging to the younger players. Many of them have reached out to me this week to tell me how much it meant to have John take an interest in them, and have him be so generous with his time, knowledge, and of course his beloved Gibson.
On a more personal note, John sang "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" at my own mother's funeral, at her request. It was something I'll never forget.
He will be missed.
