John Chase Obituary
Greece: Passed on Friday April 11th, 2014 at age 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joanne (Burritt) Chase; cherished daughter, Christiana Chase of Orlando, FL.; father, J. Richard (Noreen) Chase of Lake City, FL.; mother, Mary Chase; brother, Dr. Thomas (Marilyn) Chase of MN.; sister, Laura (Dominic) Martin of TN.; sisters-in-law, Carol Burritt & Marjorie DiFlorio; many cousins, nieces, nephews & friends; treasured dogs, Chelsea & Newton.
John worked 30 years for Monroe Co. Pure Waters and also ran Chase Computer Consulting.
He was also President of the board of directors of Cypress Pointe Resort and Cove at Yarmouth. John was also an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers for their love and support for the past 6 years.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, April 16th from 4-6 PM at the Park Ridge Free Methodist Church (corner of Long Pond & Straub Rd.), where a Funeral Ceremony will immediately follow the Calling Hours at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Park Ridge Free Methodist Church or to Strong Memorial Hospital. To share a memory or leave the family condolences, please visit:

I only knew John through some timesharing forums. He was always honest and helpful to both beginners and experienced timeshare owners. His voice will be sorely missed. God bless.

John and Joanne were my neighbors for years in Rochester,NY. When we moved to Virginia,they visited us several times. John always had a beautiful smile no matter what he was facing. We are saddened for his wife,daughter and family.The Van Ripers(Joanne and John also)

I remember John from many years ago (early 70's) when he was a drummer and played in a band with other friends - he always was friendly and kind. He married the girl who was his girlfriend at that time, and it appears that they stayed married for all these years. John's smile and warmth were unforgettable and this photograph is so much like the way I remember him. My sympathy to his family and friends - may your memories help you through this difficult time.

The passing of John Chase is a great loss. He was a very congenial fellow and a most competent County worker. I always enjoyed working with him. I remember John setting us up with our very first Operation's plant computer at the NWQ site- a 386. I called him on almost a daily basis asking for guidance as it kept crashing since we knew nothing about computers at the time. He patiently answered all the questions posed. With his help we slowly became more proficient and in the long run computers became an integral part of our Operation, enabling us to do more, resulting in much better treatment of the water being processed. The sharing of his knowledge helped us improve the water quality and saved the taxpayers a bundle of money. The early passing of John clearly verifies that life is not always fair as the best amongst us can (unfairly) be taken away from us way too early. Rest in peace John…
