Carolina Shores, N.C.: At age 76 after surviving numerous illnesses over the last 32 years. Ron was predeceased by his mother and father, Mary (Mae) and George L.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Walter Zagata; daughter, Suzanne M. (1979); nephew, Mark Zagata (1981); brother, Daniel R.; and brother-in-law, Charles Sample. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karoline; his son, Robert J. (Sherry) and the highlights of this life, grandsons, Justin Purkey and James R. all of Lexington, N.C.; sister, Mary Ann Hamill, Rochester; brother-in-law, John (Sue) Zagata of Chapin, SC; sister-in-law, Valerie Sample, Cape Coral, FL; several nieces, nephew and cousins; and many loyal life-long friends. Ron was honorably discharged from the N.Y. State National Guard, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was a Security Guard at Eastman Kodak Co., an Officer of the Greece Police Dept. for 7 years, and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department for 12 1/2 years, retiring as Detective. He loved playing golf, watching football, and life.
A Memorial Mass will be held in the Spring at Holy Cross Church (announcment of date later).
2/4/36 The day Ron was born, he cried, and people applauded. He treated others with respect, understanding, kindness and always shared his keen sense of humor.
12/2/12 The day Ron died, people cried, and the angels applauded for he was coming home.
