Utica: Theodore B. Spath, Jr., 79, of Utica passed on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home with his family by his side.
Ted was born on November 15, 1933 in Utica, the son of Theodore B. and Kathleen (Raab) Spath. He was a graduate of Francis de Sales High School and Niagara University in 1955. On October 20, 1956, Ted married Alice McQuillen in Watertown, a union of 56 years. Ted was president of Spath Associates. He was a member of the Army Reserves. Ted was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, a 4th degree member of the William E. Burke Council #189 Knights of Columbus and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He was also a proud member of "The Animals".
Surviving besides his beloved wife, Alice, are six children, Kevin (Aida) Spath, Peekskill, NY, Cindy (Cameron) MacDonald, Seattle, WA, Julie Hetterich, Rochester, Tom (Lisa) Spath, Rochester, Mike (Mary Jo) Spath, Franklin, MA and Matthew (Stephanie) Spath, Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Stephen, Patrick, Kevin, Megan, Kaitlin, Bridget, Emily, Susannah and Caroline. He also leaves a niece, Margaret Puccia and a great niece, Kristin Puccia. He was predeceased by his brother, Bob.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the funeral home and 9 a.m. from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
At the family's request, please omit floral offerings and consider remembrances in Ted's name to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
