Mr. Maloy, your legacy will endure forever in those of us who had the enormous privilege of working with you. I was doubly blessed to have been your student and your colleague. It was such an honor to join the Eastman voice faculty while you were still teaching, and to sing at the installation of your portrait.
Thank you, John Maloy, and I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to your family.

John Maloy's eilegant manners and keen human perception inspired all of us who worked with him. He was devoted to his students, and generous in offering german language coaching to everyone's students. He set the standard musically and linguistically that Eastman's voice department is famous for. His favorite german Lied was Schubert's Litanei .Singers wishing to honor him can do so by performing it in his honor. Ruhn in Frieden Herr Maloy.

Dear John,

During my studies at Eastman, you were a constant supporter of my work as collaborative pianist. As I was later hired in the Voice Department, you made me feel like a colleague and welcome as part of the faculty. Your great sense of humor, your down-to-earth attitude, and your joy of teaching shined through everything you did. I will never forget you since you are a part of my most cherished memories of Eastman.

Rest in peace...
