Ray's professional career began with his employment at Loblaws, Inc. where he rose through the ranks to become Regional Manager for the Western New York Territory. In the late 1960s Ray and his brothers Joseph and Louis purchased a grocery store on Mt. Hope Avenue in Rochester and co-managed its operation.
