Sandle Sr., Richard Pulver

Montrose, PA: Formerly of East Rochester, NY, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2014. Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife Janice (Strong) of 66 years in August 2009, and his brother Ralph Sandle in 2010; also brothers-in-law Robert and Donald Strong. Richard is survived by children: Richard Jr. (Linda) and Stephen (Patricia) Sandle, Norlyn Legler, Margaret (Mark) King, Mark (Patti) and Joseph Sandle; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Norman Sandle of Peoria, AZ, and his sister-in-law, Marilyn (Alton) Flint of Newfane, NY.

Richard was born in Rochester, NY on June 18, 1919, to Ernest and Helen Pulver Sandle. He grew up on West Spruce Street in East Rochester and attended Houghton College, where he met Janice. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served his country in World War II. On August 17, 1943, he and Janice were married in Bowling Green, KY, prior to his deployment to the Philippines. After the war, they settled in East Rochester and Richard returned to college. He graduated from RIT as a machinist.

Richard was a retiree of Eastman Kodak R&D Department, Deacon of the First Community Church of East Rochester, served on the Board of Directors of the Open Door Mission and was a member of the Gideons of Rochester, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at White Haven Memorial Park - The Creation Chapel, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY, followed by his burial there. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Birchardville Baptist Church, 16469 State Route 267, Montrose, PA, with Pastor Mark King officiating.
