Goffstown, NH: Anna VanBortle Bluhm died peacefully at her home in Goffstown, NH on Friday, April 4, 2014. Anna was born in 1921 in Brighton, New York and graduated from Fairport High School in 1938. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Richard Bluhm, in 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Terrence and Richard. She is survived by a sister, Loretta Henrie of Ithaca, NY and a brother, Tom Van Bortle of East Rochester, NY, four children and their spouses: Beth Ann & Richard Cunningham of Richmond, VA, Mary Jo and John Schoolmaster of Colorado Springs, CO, Jane and the Rev. William Exner of Goffstown, NH and Peter and Bonnie Bluhm of Fairport, NY and her daughter-in-law, Licia Bluhm of Oklahoma City, OK. Anna is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Ekiert, Ellen, Joseph, Stephen & Anna Exner, Matthew, Katie and Elizabeth Schoolmastser, and Jessica, Kevin & Jackson Bluhm. She leaves 7 great-grandchildren: Cassidy and Lucy Exner, Allison and Megan Ekiert, Riley Bluhm, Isaac McKay and Emma Exner.
Anna's greatest joy was her family. She especially enjoyed a rousing game of family gin rummy and taught all of her grandchildren the rules of the game, including how to knock. Anna was also a fine golfer and spent many hours on the golf courses of Locust Hill CC and Hilton Head Island, SC. She was an active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Goffstown NH where a memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14 at 10:00AM. Graveside committal service will be held in Pittsford, NY this summer.
Anna will be missed by all who knew her.
