Chesler, Philip N.

Chicago, IL: (formerly of Pittsford, N.Y.) Suddenly: Sunrise January 19, 1976 - Sunset March 10, 2014. Philip is predeceased by his sister, Debra Lynn Chesler, his beloved "Nana Rose", and his brother in law Trygve B. Swift. Philip also leaves a worldwide community of friends too numerous to mention.

He was a graduate of Brown University "98" and Pittsford Sutherland High School. He was Co-Captain of the Brown Lacrosse Team, named All Ivy, and All American at Pittsford Sutherland High School. Philip was a past President of the Chicago Brown Alumni Club. He was instrumental in initiating a mentoring program at one of Chicago's inner city schools.

He was an Eagle Scout and retained his association with the Boy Scouts. He lived in New York City, San Francisco, Geneva (Switzerland), London, and Chicago. He made his career in financial marketing which took him to the four corners of the world. He was an avid traveler immersing himself in diverse cultures.

To best sum up his life he was quoted online thusly "Let's see, I believe that most would believe that I have a strong sense of moral decency. Suffice to say that I do believe in karma and try to do the right thing whenever possible. I enjoy a close relationship with my family. Frankly, other than my health nothing is as important as their well being."

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00am at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Please meet inside the main entrance of Mt. Hope Cemetery at 10:45am (main entrance is across the street from the Distillery Restaurant.) Following the service, a celebration of his life will take place at Max of Eastman Place, 25 Gibbs St. from 12pm to 3pm.
