Hafner, Rev. M. Gerard

Tamarac, FL: Went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2014 at age 79. Father Jerry was born on May 11, 1935 in Rochester, NY to the late Maurice Francis and Elizabeth (Cronin) Hafner. He spent over 52 years serving in both the Diocese of Rochester and South Florida. He served at Holy Apostles, Rochester; St. Francis of Assisi, Auburn; Holy Spirit, Penfield; Holy Family, Auburn; Our Lady of Mercy, Greece; St. John the Evangelist, Clyde; St. Joseph, Penfield; Church of the Annunciation, Rochester; Sacred Heart Cathedral and St. Boniface, Rochester, and was Pastor at St. Benedict, Odessa and St. Pius X, VanEtten; and St. Columba- St. Patrick in Caledonia and Mumford, and was temporary Pastoral Aministrator at St. John the Evangelist, Spencerport. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Hafner. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving brother, James Paul (Ann) Hafner, sister, Maryann (Gary) Gac, sister-in-law, Sharon Hafner, and several nieces and nephews.

On Wednesday, June 11th, Father will lie in state at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. from 4 to 7 PM, with Evening Prayer at 7 PM. On Thursday, June 12th, Father will lie in state from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park. His Funeral Mass, with Bishop Matthew Clark presiding, will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
