Borden, Douglas Graham


Rochester: July 14, 2014 at age 92. Predeceased by his son, Daniel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jeanne Adkinson Borden (formerly of AL), son, Kenneth (Phyllis) Borden, & daughter, Mona Borden; granddaughters, Jeannie (Brian) McNamara, Adrianne (Michael) Ludolph & Ashley Borden; 2 great grandchildren, Hailey & Brooke McNamara; his sister, Lois B. Hord of Canada; also nieces & nephews.

Doug graduated from Bates College & spent two years at Cornell University after the war. Doug was a WWII Naval Aviator, & retired from the Naval Reserves in 1981 as a Lt. Commander. He worked at Eastman Kodak Co. Research Labs in Rochester & Kingsport, TN from 1948 - 1982 when he retired as a Sr. Research Associate. During that time he published 14 papers, received 10 US patents, & 50 foreign patents.

Doug had many interests including his family history. He was an active coin & stamp collector, was a member of the Rochester Numismatic Assoc., was founder of the Kodak Coin Club & was active in the Kodak Stamp Club. Doug was an active member of the American Vecturist Assoc. & published many articles on English Milled Silver, & transportation tokens. In 1984 he designed a set of bus tokens for the City of Rochester's sesquicentennial. He was also a member of the Military Officers Assoc. of America & the Geriatric Pilot's Club

Doug & Jeanne were members of the Lake Avenue Baptist Church & later in life the United Church of Christ in Irondequoit. Doug served as a deacon & sang in the church choir for 21 years. He enjoyed, bridge, walking on trails, music & singing, reading & cross country skiing.

Please join the family for Doug's Memorial Service on SATURDAY at 11 AM in the Chapel of the Episcopal Church Home (505 Mt. Hope Ave., 14620).
