Avon: Went peacefully to join family and friends after a courageous battle with lung cancer on April 12, 2011 at age 81. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; children, Joni Hayes, Larry (Mary Grace) Gardner, Donald Stevens, Julie Stevens, Jeanette (Larry) Commanda, Marc Stevens. Also survived by Helen's children, Helen (Bill) Gordon, Julie (Dave) Linden, Philip (Katy) Linden; brother, Donald Stevens; sisters, Alberta Woodard, Alice Andrews, Barbara Roeser, Betty Hancy; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and Helen's 9 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Cora Stevens; daughter, Donna Burdick; granddaughter, Stacie Burdick; great-granddaughter, Zoey Stevens; Helen's children, Debbie Linden, Walter Linden Jr.; brothers, Sidney, Alfred Stevens; sisters, Queenie Stevens, Connie White, Beulah Roth, Velma Schneider; best friends, Harry Clements, Raymond Frye. Chuck owned and operated Chuck's Meat Market in Lakeville for over 19 years. He was also past Fire Chief and volunteer Fireman with the East Avon Fire Dept. He was an Army Veteran. In his spare time, he liked to walk in the fields collecting arrowheads and taking care of his beautiful yard and vegetable garden. His favorite past time was spending time with family. He was loved by all.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon where his Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10 AM. Interment, Avon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice, 2 County Campus, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
