Sutphin, Marsha

Bloomfield: Marsha was born on Nov. 25, 1946 to Phyllis Cochrane Thomas and Harry Thomas in Marietta, Ohio. She was always grateful for her parents' sacrifice and generosity that allowed her to attend college well before the days of student aid.

She leaves behind her much loved husband of 43 years and always best friend, Douglas Sutphin and their children, her heart Sara (Scott) Reinard, Victoria, MN, Matthew (Erika) Sutphin, McAdenville, NC and Bethany Sutphin, Albuquerque, NM; the best grandchildren in the world, Carson Reinard age 10, Caitlin Reinard age 8 and Molly Sutphin age 3 & 1/2; her "sister/cousins" Polly (Jim) Bates, Columbus, OH and Gretchen Cram, Garrettsburg, OH, keepers of the family history; her esteemed colleagues, both past and present, at the Ontario County Probation Department who have worked so hard for so long while being role models of integrity and honesty; her newest colleagues at the Bloomfield Library, who have created a friendly haven for all in the village of Bloomfield; and the members of the First Congregational Church of Bloomfield, who for almost 30 years, exemplified all that is best about being a church family. Marsha requests each person who was such an important part of her the reach out in some new way to church or community to make a positive difference in the world.

The family would like to thank the oncology & radiation staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Alok Khorana, who treats complex medical questions with great humanity. They would also like to thank Dr. Elaine Greene, psychologist, for her kind and perceptive help in end of life planning. May God Bless you all and keep you, may God lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

There will be no prior calling hours. Marsha's Celebration Service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the First Congregational Church of Bloomfield. The family will greet friends immediately following the service and suggest that memorial contributions be made to Pets Alive, 363 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940 or the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642. To share a memory or to express condolences on line please visit ww.fullerfh.com
