MacWhinney, James B. Jr., MD

Penfield: Age 84 died January 11, 2013 at St. John's Home after a valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by loving wife of 58 years, Nancy McFadden MacWhinney; three daughters, Bonnie (Dr. Steven) Cramer, Kathryn and Elizabeth; and four grandchildren, Daniel (Caitlyn) Cramer, Shira Cramer and Marisa and Riley Hendron as well as his sister Barbara (William) Schneidewind and brother Mike (Denise) MacKenzie and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Princeton University and the University of Rochester Medical School and their residency program. He practiced pediatrics with Panorama Pediatrics for 38 years. He was an "old time Doc" who made house calls day and night and was known for being a good listener. For many years he was also Medical Director of the Mary Cariola Center and St. Joseph's Villa. Jim was an avid skier, backpacker and outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the many people who assisted in his care.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the University of Rochester Medical School Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund, 300 East River Road, Rochester, NY 14627 or the Adirondack Nature Conservancy, P.O. Box 65, 8 Nature Way, Keene Valley, NY 12943. A celebration of his life will be held on April 20th, 2013 at one p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester.
