Rochester: Ronald D. Danko, Sr. passed away on January 22, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY after a heroic battle with cancer.

Ron was born on August 25, 1937 in Arnold, PA, to Andrew J. Danko and Ethel (Kroh) Danko. He lived in the Rochester, NY area since 1973. He is survived by his wife, Linda Rossolo Danko, son, Ronald Jr., and daughter, Linda Seelman, son-in-law Scott Seelman, step-daughter Jennifer Meyers (Thomas) as well as grandchildren, Jacob Parker and Claire Danko and step-grandchildren Connor and Casey Meyers and Paul and David Seelman as well as siblings; Richard A. Danko (Sharon) Sedona, AZ and John W. McNally, Marietta, GA, and Elizabeth (Betty) Antolik (Albert), North Versailles, PA; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends especially Joseph Madigan.

Ron graduated from Arnold High School in 1955 and worked side by side with his father Andrew, and brother Richard, in their family bakery, developing his skills as a master baker, expert cake decorator, and bakery manager. Following the sale of the family bakery, Ron held senior management positions at baking companies in Pittsburgh, PA and Dayton, OH.

Ron was a world-renowned master baker and baking industry executive. He served as Director of Bakery Operations for Wegmans Food Markets for over thirty-two years, managing the company's central bakery plant and in-store bakery departments. He was a member of the American Society of Baking, American Bakers Association, and was at one time President, and served on the Board of Directors of the Retail Bakers' of America.

Following his retirement from Wegmans, Ron was the U.S. Business Agent for Pierre Herme' of Paris for two years. He joined his brother in a consulting firm (Summit Industries International, LLC) as Vice President in 2006. Later that year, Ron accepted a position as CEO of Baker's Pride, Inc., until his illness necessitated his retirement.

Friends may call Saturday, January 26 from 4-7 pm at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). Friends are invited to bring a written memory or photo of Ron for the family's Memory Book. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance, 280 Calkins Road, Rochester 14623.
