Gysel, Richard "Dick"

Cortland: A longtime Rochester resident, passed quietly at home in Cortland at the age of 95. Dick is survived by his wife (Avis); son, Peter (Val) Gysel of Coffeyville, KS; son, Rick (Fran) of Cortland, NY; son, Mike Kusi (Mary) of Broken Arrow, OK; as well as grandchildren, Stephanie Gysel Coryea (Ian), Matthew Gysel, Vanessa Martin, Luke Gysel, Olivia Gysel, Avis Kusi, Spencer Kusi; and great-grandchild, Connor Coryea.

Dick graduated from the University of Rochester in 1940 as a Chemical Engineer and soon after earned his PE license. He retired as Executive VP of Fasco Industries, Boca Raton, FL, in 1982. Dick also worked for his church all his life. Dick was a devoted husband and father. He was also an avid golfer belonging to Oak Hill Golf Club for over 50 years. After retirement Dick volunteered as a member of SCORE and the Junior Achievement Program to help others succeed in business. Avis and Dick had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

A memorial service will be held at Homer Congregational Church on Thursday May 2, 2013 at 10am. The interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY at 2:00pm May 2. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Homer Congregational Church.

The family wishes to thank those who have supported Dick during the last several months. We thank Dr. Eddo De Lang for his extraordinary personal care. We thank Chris Hodges, Bill McLaughlin, Alisha Gilbert, Sara Roy and Heidi Adams for their positive and caring help. We also thank John Davidson for always being there as a good friend.
