Hilton: Surrounded by his family, Edmund Smith, age 78, went into the arms of Jesus on April 27. He was born in Slippery Rock, PA. Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years Natalie; his triplet daughters, Susan (John) Vernick, Sharon (Christopher) Petrakis, Sandra (Darren) Smith; and his seven grandchildren John, Anna, Lauren, Benjamin, Alexis, CJ and Ethan; and three sisters. He was predeceased by his adoring son Danny. Ed graduated from New Castle Business College in 1962. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and witnessed the first airdrop of a hydrogen bomb. He retired as an accountant after 29 yrs and relocated with Natalie to Hilton, NY. Ed was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for over 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Ed was a gentle, loving and kind husband, father, and grandfather. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Robert Blackburn of Hilton Health Care, the Unity Hospital staff, and Lifetime Care/Hospice. The viewing and funeral will be at Young Funeral Home in Butler, PA on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. Donations may be sent to Special Olympics of PA or MS Society of Upstate NY
