Wafer, Donald J.

New Canaan, Ct: Formerly of Rochester on June 21, 2013 at age 88. Predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Eleanor Wafer & his son, Thomas Patrick Wafer. He is survived by 6 children: John, Robert, Patricia, Janet, Margaret Mary, and Donald Jr. He also leaves 4 grandchildren: Elijah Meyer, Melea Meyer, Bryan White and Molly O'Brien Wafer, and 3 great-grandchildren: Quinn Meyer Ayala, Atticus Meyer Ayala and Julia Marie Meyer.

He was born Sep. 13, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York - the first and only child of John and Catherine Wafer. Donald served in the Navy on B-24's with the famous Navy Patrol 104, the only squadron to receive two Presidential Unit Citations.

He graduated from St. John's University with a BA in Business Administration, and had a successful insurance agent career. Donald was very active in St. James Catholic Parish, and an usher for decades. He also coached and mentored hundreds of boys in Little League baseball for the 18th Ward East.
