Scherzi, Dominic

Rochester: Born on 3/26/37 died 3/5/2014 at age 76. Dominic lived every day to the fullest and without hesitation. His fearless approach on life has rendered exciting stories too many to mention. A soldier, Roc City Police Officer, Union Leader, Restaurant Owner, Taxi Cab Owner are just a few job titles he was proud to possess. But clearly, his biggest job to date was 365 days a year working all holidays for better than half his life without pay. He was rich in love. Dad, we want to honor you for a job well done. Survived by his children Janine Mangione (Scherzi), Ann Marie Williams (Scherzi), Dominic Lupiani, Rebecca Ostertag; John Kane, Gina Sulli and his brother James Scherzi and sisters Frankie Stein, Yvonne Benefante, Renee Bentson, Dolores Sciortino and Kimmarie Scherzi; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also father figure and mentor to many. Often the voice of the people; he always bet on the underdog to win. His words of wisdom have helped many. YUP, you will truly be missed.

Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 7 PM at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. A memorial service and day of remembrance honoring Dominic Scherzi will held on March 15, 2014 at 2 to 4:30 PM, New Beginnings Church of Life, 1326 N. Winton Rd., Rochester.
