Carolyn Siegfried Obituary
Rochester: Passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2014 at age 100. Born January 3, 1914, Carolyn was the daughter of Ernest Lacy White and Elizabeth Chapin White of Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, DeFois Hathaway Siegfried and one of her two sisters, Elizabeth White Schaeffer. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Ernestine White Chandler of Rochester, NY; two daughters, Carolyn Gale Siegfried of Toronto, ON and Elizabeth Hathaway Siegfried (James Stuart Grant) of Oxtongue Lake, ON, and four nieces and two nephews. Loving and sincere gratitude is extended by Carolyn's family to her long-time caregivers, Rebecca Lyman, Alana Jones and Bettie Bair.

My youthful visits to my Aunty Sylvia (Hubbard) at Oxtongue Lake always included an exciting motorboat trip over to the Siegfried's. The warmth and hospitality of Carolyn White Siegfried was obvious to me even as a child. My sincere sympathy to all the family and friends who will miss her brightly shining presence on this side.

This is my favourite picture of your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Gale. You both did an amazing job of seeing she was exceptionally well looked after. I know she lived a full and rich life and was greatly loved.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I know how much you must miss her. My dad died on May 14 the day before his 91st birthday. Mom and I miss him so much! What a wonderful man! My thoughts and prayers are with you. You had a beautiful mom.

I remember visiting Carolyn at Oxtongue Lake and again at her home in Rochester for one of her birthday celebrations when she was a young woman (90 or so). I played violin for her then and I think she enjoyed it. What an inspiration. Miss you Carolyn!
