Clayson, Veronica

"Roni"

Davenport, FL: A chapter closed on September 24, 2014 with the passing of Veronica "Roni" Clayson, widow of Keith Clayson and former resident of School Street in Springwater. Veronica "Roni" L. Clayson (nee Ray), resident of Davenport, Florida and former longtime resident of Springwater, NY and Three Mile Bay, NY passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2014 after a brief illness. She was 86.

Mrs. Clayson was born December 19, 1927 to Francis Clair Ray and Lottie Slocum, the second of six children. Most of her youth was spent in Allegany and Steuben counties N.Y. where her father farmed. She married Keith Clayson on April 30, 1948 in Springwater and together they had one child, Kathleen.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Clayson was a quiet, gracious and dignified person who loved being at home with her family. She worked at AC Delco Products in Rochester, N.Y. until she retired, and she enjoyed knitting cable sweaters for her loved ones. She also enjoyed sewing and was a real stickler for straight seams. She was an active member of the Kern-Robinson Unit 905 of the American Ladies Auxiliary in Springwater where she and Keith spent many long hours in service to our veterans.

Mrs. Clayson is predeceased by her parents, Francis Ray (1991) and Lottie Slocum Ray (1984); her husband Keith Clayson (2013); her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen Clayson Weed (2013) and George Weed (2013); her sisters: Bernice Margaret Ray Allen (2009), Lucy Ella Ray Norton (2000), and Mary Francis Ray Peers (2008) and two brothers: Robert Joseph Ray (1942) and Francis "Tom" Ray (2013); brothers-in-law: Abel Peers (2008), Leo Colegrove (2012), Ward Clayson (2005) and William Hamilton (2011), and sister-in-law Francis Clayson Hamilton (1986).

She leaves to mourn her loss her grandson Bryan E. Weed, his wife Janet and two great grandsons, Keith and Jaxon; granddaughter, Tricia L. Weed; sister, Geraldine (Don) Armbruster of AZ; sisters- in- law: Martha Thompson, Elizabeth Colegrove, Charlotte Clayson, and Sandra Ray, many life-long friends in this area including: the Fugle family of Conesus and Gladys Weed and family of Webster Crossing, N.Y., and friends in Florida and Three Mile Bay, N.Y.
