Ray Shortino Obituary
Ray and Sharon
Rochester: August 7, 2015. Predeceased by their fathers, Harold Van Patten and Manuel Shortino. Survived by 3 sons, Mark (Audrey), Matt (Bonnie), Mike (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Sami, Sophie, Jack, Alex and Julia; mothers, Betty Gifford and Marion Shortino. Ray is survived by his sister, Arlene (Tim) Thomes. Sharon is survived by her siblings, Linda (Eric) Mahon, Jim (Dawn) Van Patten; they are also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Friends may call at the Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd., Thursday 3-7PM. Ray and Sharon's Memorial Service will be held Saturday 11 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 2576 Browncroft Blvd. In lieu of flowers kindly consider donations to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, CURE Alzheimer's Fund or Faith Lutheran in their memories.

I´m sorry for your loss. Julia, she has shared with me a memory that she had the day after the death ; she was driving to her Mr. And mrs. Shortino s lake house and she was with her whole family, keep in mind she was three at the time, and when they were driving up she started yelling ama and papa witch were her nicknames for ray and Sharon shortino. At the time Julia didn´t know about the death because she was so young the moment was so sad that everyone started to cry and they all had a very heart felt moment.

Dear Shortino Family,
I just heard the news regarding Ray and Sharon and I'm speechless. I have waited on them for over 10 years at the Pleasant Valley Inn. They were always so kind and spoke so fondly about their family. It was evident how much they loved their family and each other. I enjoyed the many conversations we had and the smile they always wore. They will be missed. Sending my deepest sympathy.

I met Ray and Sharon 4 years ago at the penn yan airport when Ray had a flat tire on his saratoga. What an outstanding guy. I went on a few flights with him and he kept his plane in my hangar while they stayed at the lake house. I cant say enough good things about him.

Dear Members of the Shortino Family- I am so sorry for your loss. No words can express my sorrow Ray was a good friend during the many years he was a member of Artisan Flying Club. He and the folks at Radec kept our scheduling book long after he left the club to buy his own plane. His giving spirit toward his fellow pilots will always be remembered. I will miss seeing his smiling face at the Rochester airport.

I spent 24 years working with Sharon and it was a sad day to see her retire in 2010 but she looked forward to spending her time being with her children, grandkids, family and friends. I worked (and traveled!) with Sharon at NP for many years and have great memories from that time. I admired her as a Mom - she spoke with deep pride and love about her family. I am grateful that she was a trusted colleague, and also a dear friend. Ray's quick smile was infectious and he had a wonderful way of engaging people. I was delighted to be with them just a few weeks ago on a spectacular summer day. Such a gift. Both will be missed. I hadn't seen your parents in decades, but have fond memories of being in your kitchen, negotiating with your folks regarding our bike ride to Dox Drugs to buy candy and play video games.
