Fred was born and raised in the Binghamton area, attended Paul Smith College for Forestry, graduated from Michigan State and after serving his country in the Korean War, completed his post graduate degree in Plant Pathology at MSU. Within months of earning his degree he married his sweetheart, Joan Buckman. He worked for many years for Monroe Tree and Landscape until he started his own company, Micha Tree and Landscape, as a business consultant and was the first in the country to use his expertise to establish monetary values for trees. Fred was proud to have been an active Rotarian for many years and was a Paul Harris Fellow who maintained perfect attendance until he could no longer drive to meetings. He and Joan had welcomed many people from around the world through business and Rotary connections.

There will be a celebration of Fred's life on Saturday January 2nd at 3 PM at the North Ontario United Methodist Church. He made an anatomical donation of his body to the University of Rochester and his eyes to the Eye Bank. His cremains will be interred in Lake View Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Church or to the Rochester Rotary Charitable Trust, 180 Linden Oaks #200, Rochester, NY 14625.

Knew Fred both as a client and as a Rochester Rotarian. Enjoyed these times together and am sad to hear this news. He will always be remembered as a vital part of Rotary.

Joan and family.....I am so sorry to hear of Fred's death. He was such a wonderful man in so many ways. I remember tree work he did at my last home and Super Bowl parties at your home. My sympathy and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time and may all of your fine memories of Fred, and his life with you, help you through the coming days. All my best to you. Warm regards. Mary
