I met Eva in 7th grade at Cherry Creek Junior High School and we remained friends/correspondents for many years after my family left Colorado and we went our separate ways. I was very sad to learn recently of her passing from a mutual friend.

John Michael (she always called you that) and James the Copelands met all of you when my Jonathan and John Michael were at the same baby sitters. Watching how picky your mom was about your care made me smile. As an RN, I was just as picky about my Jonathan. My Jon was very sick at birth. Spending several days in the NICU made me a constant observer of his care and I would soon find myself seeking Dr. Eva for a child that did not talk. Heavy antibiotics at birth and multiple ear infections caused me to fear he might be deaf. We began seeing Dr. Eva as a private patient (leaving my comfort zone of UF Health) that my insurance didn't even cover. I wanted the best. After several visits she removed his adenoids and place tubes in his ears. Within 5 days he was speaking in full sentences. She had done a miracle. He could hear. The story I will always remember is most of her patients were elderly. Jon was the only child when we visited. We were flying to Canada and I needed to know the tubes were OK. Low and behold one of them was plugged. He would need his ear vacuumed. Taking a sheet and wrapping him like a papoose the nurse held his head and I had his feet and Dr. Eva did her thing. Jon screamed at the top of his lungs Dr. Eva stop louder and louder so everyone in the building could hear him. In five minutes it was over and as we walked out that day she assured all the patients in the waiting room that he was fine and they were friends. Mom was so embarrassed. John Michael and Jon spent several birthdays together until like most children they went to different schools and Jon no longer had hearing issues. I think of Eva often. she was so smart and talented and Jon Michael she always wanted the best for you. James I wish I could say more to you but we knew you less. Thank you for sharing her with us. Her time on this earth was too short. She remains in my heart and I think of the two of you often . God be with you.

I just learned of Eva's passing, so sad. I was a patient of hers in Gainesville, FL back in 1999. I have a long story from an early childhood injury and I am currently in Texas applying for SSDI so going through all of my past diagnoses. Eva was the first doctor who helped me understand my Meniere's Disease and she identified my Superior Semicircular Dehiscence before most even knew it was a thing. She watched my eyeballs jiggle to my cell phone ringing through this magnifying headset thingy. LOL, was so awkward because to see through this apparatus she had to come close enough to where I could feel her breath and heat on my face. Now they have VEMP tests which are much more quantitative and less awkward. She was amazing... :-(

I just learned of Eva's passing. It came as such a shock. Our boys only a couple months apart were at the same childcare. It was thru this meeting that I would later seek her help for my non speaking child with chronic otitis. Within hours after his surgery he was talking. By weeks end conversations came. As a nurse she relived my anxiety and as a mom comforted me with the surgical decision. She was so compassionate even with her youngest patients. I am sorry our paths grew apart. I had hoped after the boys were grown to see her again. James and John Michael I am sorry that this precious lady left you so soon. I am sure she is with the Angels. She was a blessing to so many. Until we meet again, Dr. Eva. Godspeed to your family

Dr Dimitrov performed my daughter's cochlear implant almost 23 year ago. Today, we are travelling to Nashville for appointments at Vanderbuilt to see about re-implantation -- she did a great job, a very talented surgeon! She was patient, comforting, and a miracle worker in our eyes.

Just learned of Dr.Dimitrov's passing and am so very sorry. I became a patient of hers when It was discovered that I had a cholesatoma in my ear. I remember being frightened that I would loose any hearing that I had left and would not be able to work but Dr Dimitrov worked her magic by removing all of the cholesatoma and giving me enough hearing in my ear enabling me to use a hearing aid. She was such a compassionate doctor and knew how to put you at ease immediately. I will be forever grateful to her. She did so much good during her time on earth. Thank you.

I knew Eva as both a classmate and a friend when she was a student at Cherry Creek High School. I also knew her when she was at the University of Colorado. She was very bright and very dedicated to her studies. She was also a caring and gracious friend.
In spite of her great aptitudes and achievements, she remained very humble. I recall one time in an advanced biology class going over and asking Eva a question. She answered me right away, but then she smiled at me and told me that I had asked her something that I should have been able to figure out myself. I laughed and asked her why I should figure it out myself when I could just ask the smartest person in the class. She looked me in the eye, and with no false modesty, she insisted that she was not the smartest person in the class. But in spite of her humility, I knew that she had the highest GPA in the class. The numbers tell the truth.
I wish she had contacted me before she went to Guatemala so that we could have talked about low-tech means of water supply and purification. That's something I could have given her answers on. And it would have given me a chance to speak with her once more. It so saddens me to know that she is gone from this earth.

Dr. Dimitrov was kind, understanding, and in my eyes, my hero because she saved my son's hearing. She was a phenomenal doctor. My family had no idea that she had retired due to illness. May she rest in peace.
To her family, I am sorry for your loss. She talked to me about her children with love and pride. May God bless all of you!

I was a former patient of Dr. Dimitrov. She did five surgeries on my ears and restored my hearing. I will be forever grateful for the work she did. She was the epitome of what every doctor should be: caring, talented in her craft which she transformed into an art form, an excellent communicator, and she had a sense of humor. I will miss her.

I met Eva Dimitrov in Gainesville through her husband Jamie Betz the early 1990s. I have been very close to her and her family throughout the years . Eva was truly a special person and skilled surgeon. She was very passionate with her job and recreation . She was unbelievably strong throughout her long illness. I really got to know the real"doc" Eva when she performed larynx surgery on me to save my voice from losing it permanently. She was so caring and professional and kept me grounded thought the entire process. Her ability to maintain our friendship but yet carry on her doctor hat was remarkable. My family and I will miss her smile and kind loving soul as she will never be forgotten by the Waters family.

Although I never met Dr. Eva, she had a life which inspired others to learn and share compassion. Her stepdaughter Kelsey also mirrors that life. May your family and friends find peace and love throughout the grieving process. The good Lord is with you always.

In the beginning she was a client that I worked with at the Otology Group in Nashville. What developed was a terrific friendship that has lasted all these years. Thinking of her family and knowing the world is better off having had her contributions.

I am so terribly sad to hear of Dr. Dimitrov's passing. For many years she was my doctor managing my Meniere's disease. In 2001 I was bed ridden and she had exhausted all known remedies to get me back on my feet...I mean literally back on my feet. She was a leading specialist dealing with this disease and the last resort was a very dangerous and invasive surgery requiring a surgeon to drill through my skull so she could to get to the vestibular nerve. She saved my life because without the surgery I would have been bed ridden the rest of my life. Pre-surgery my quality of life was just miserable, I couldn't work, couldn't sleep and just couldn't do anything except lay in the bed with my life spinning by. The surgery was a complete success and within only a few months I was enjoying my life again and returned to work. I'm not sure who was more excited for my recovery her or me. Whenever I had an appt Dr. Dimitrov never acted like I was a problem or a burden and she never rushed so she could "just" go on to the next patient. She always took special time with me to ensure my care physically and mentally. She always listened with caring ears...she made me feel like I was the only patient she had...which was so far from the truth. I saw all those folks in her office and I knew she helped every single one of them just like she did for me. My last visit with her was in 2007 and she told me she was retiring to spend more time with her family. I was devastated but I certainly understood. During that appointment she told that she had brought a young doctor into her practice with Meniere's disease experience and that I would be in good hands with him. I had no idea she was fighting for her life. I am forever grateful for her saving my life and she will always have a special place in my heart!
To her family and loved ones my deepest sympathies to each of you. I hope that you find some comfort knowing just how many lives she touched.
Rest in Peace Dr. Dimitrov.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will reward me on that day.

Even as Eva was fighting her own health battle, she reached out to help me with mine. I found her to be a kind soul that always lifted me up. She said she would pray for me as I will continue to pray for her. Peace to Jamie and her family. Nancy Pipkin

Eva was my first-love, without doubt, 50-years ago, when we were both 9-years old in 4th grade at Dora Moore Elementary School. Eva had the most beautiful handwriting, and when the music teacher had to leave the classroom for a few minutes and asked Eva to take over as teacher, Eve sight-read the song at the piano for that day. Oh, what a privilege to know her then, and sympathy to those who have known her since and feel her loss.

Eva , my wife and I spent many hours waist deep fly fishing or on the back of a horse with Eva while she lived she lived in Nashville. We met her on a scuba diving experience on the Crystal River. We enjoyed her wit and her passion for life and shared most of all a love for each other. We will miss her on this earth, but are certain she has already spread her wings in heaven and is already pickling out the best place to make our next cast.

Dr. Dimitrov performed surgery when I was told it was not an option. I could hear my daughter's voice again. I remember her whispering in my left hear after my surgery and I cried tears of joy since I heard her. I remember music being played in the operating room and laughter. She was an amazing doctor and I thank God for her crossing my path. Prayers to her family during this time. She lives on in all of you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Dimitrov when she performed surgery on my daughter, Deja, in 2001. She had a very gentle spirit and handled my daughter's situation in a way that is rarely displayed by physicians these days. I pray God grants her family immeasurable peace in their time of loss. It's indeed a wonderful thing to know that she lived her dash the way that will leave a lasting, positive impact on all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Although I did not know Eva as a doctor, I knew her as a passionate disciple of Christ. She studied His word with as much zeal and inquisitiveness as she lived life. She joined the Ultimate Teacher on our Bible Study day...now she is learning from the Master. She was the ultimate example of being a Servant: professionally and personally. We miss you Eva! Love-
