Seebart, Mary Crooks - Denver
Mary Crooks Seebart passed away unexpected on Jan 6, 2015. Mary was living her dream sailing in the Caribbean with Greg her husband of 27 years. They had just finished a beautiful snorkeling swim when Mary had a hard time breathing. She passed away on the beach in the beautiful Turks and Caicos with white sand and turquoise waters touching her toes. Mary was born in Quincy, IL March 2, 1945, graduated from Quincy High School, Eastern Illinois University and The University of Colorado where she earned her master's degree. She is survived by her husband Greg, daughter Kristen and her husband Patrick Bryant, granddaughters Sienna and Shay, brother Cam (Charles) and his wife Sue, sisters in law Mary and Corrine, brothers in law Keith and Kevin, niece Cassie, and nephews Curt, Chris, and Landon. Mary moved to Colorado in 1971 and began teaching math at Vikan Junior High school in Brighton Colorado in 1972. She loved her students and spent 23 year there as teacher and then as a counselor. Mary retired from teaching in 1995 and joined Greg at Campus Cycles, a bicycle store they owned until 2006 when she retired again. Mary loved people, adventure, travel, bicycling, skiing, sailing, reading, book club, being creative in every way, spending time with friends and family and living life to it fullest. One of the most special moments in her life was when she reconnected with her daughter that she had given up for adoption 25 years earlier. The bond was instantly reconnected and she enjoyed special time with Kristen and her family. In 2014, Mary and Greg sold their home of 27 years in Wheat Ridge, CO to purchase a sailboat which they named "Mile High Dream." This was a longtime dream of Mary and Greg's to live on a sailboat and sail the Caribbean. They moved to Silverthorn, CO living there in the summers and moving to the sailboat in the winters. Her love of life, love and caring for others, and adventuresome spirit set an example to everyone she met and she will be missed. A celebration of Mary's life will be Feb. 15, 4:00-7:00 at the Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W. 32nd Ave., Golden, CO 80401. Donations may be made to Bicycle Colorado where Mary served on the Board of Directors, Dumb Friends League, or a charity which Mary would like.
