Thompson, Rhonda E. - Denver
66, passed away March 23, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. Beloved wife to John, sister to Douglas, Janice and the late Charles, and a loyal aunt. Born in New Jersey, Rhonda worked as a chiropractic assistant. After getting married, she and her geologist husband moved to Denver. While he worked in the wilderness, Rhonda took care of the home, dogs, and finances. Sewing since she was five, Rhonda did all kinds of crafts and art. When her husband retired, Rhonda saw an article that the Denver Museum of Nature and Science needed experienced needle workers. She and a dozen other volunteers sewed thousands of feathers onto the huge feather banners for the Aztec exhibit. This started Rhonda's twenty-year vocation of working on temporary exhibits at the museum. She also sewed and made jewelry for other volunteers and the museum. From blockbusters like Aztec, China and Titanic, and smaller exhibits like Maya, Mythbusters, and Mastadons, Rhonda did them all. She had golden hands and a golden heart. She will be sorely missed by family, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-7pm at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel.
