Helen Georgia (Irvin) Goering died July 10, 2013 at the age of 93. Helen was born November 2, 1919 on a farm in Ness County, Kansas. She attended 12 years of school at McCracken, Kansas during which time she was interested in sports and played basketball in the seventh through twelfth grades. After graduating from high school, she attended Fort Hays State Teachers
College where she received a teaching certificate. Helen taught school in one of the last of the "Little School Houses on the Prairie" and also at McCracken Elementary School. She was a substitute teacher in many schools throughout the United States. While attending college, she met Milford W. (Bill) Goering. They were married June 7, 1941. They lived many places in the United States and throughout the world. The last thirty years of her life were spent in Aurora, CO where she enjoyed her family and many friends. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. Her activities were centered on her family, in her church, at her bridge clubs, and with her golf game. Her husband, her parents, and her two brothers preceded her in death. Her son Steven W. Goering of Denver, two granddaughters, Chani C. Goering of Denver and Codi R. Rosado of Arvada and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Joeli, and Liam survive her. There was cremation by Neptune Society and a private ceremony will be held.
