Jean Hackman

Surrounded by family and friends, Jean Ann Hackman, 71, died peacefully on October 22, 2012 at Reid Hospital. She was born to William and Elizabeth Hackman on September 15, 1941 in Richmond, Indiana. After receiving degrees in education from Ball State and Indiana University, she moved to Colorado where she was an innovative and admired kindergarten teacher earning her the distinction as a Colorado teacher of the year. A teacher to the core, she taught everyone around her about resilience, courage, strength, love, and the power of positive thinking. This was made evident through her noble battle against rheumatoid arthritis and its health complications. She was supported by her many caregivers, Jo Ellen Horton, Jackie Roth, Cheryl Wright, Ted Hackman and Kim Miller. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Jean will be remembered with love by her sister Janet (Mark) Phillips; sister-in-law, Karen Hackman; nephews Ted (Monica) Hackman, Peter (Brian Clevenger) Hackman, Matt (Liz) Phillips, Ben (Rachael) Phillips, great nieces, aunt, uncle, many cousins and wonderful friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth Hackman, and her brother, John Hackman..
