Dale Liechty passed away Thursday, 9/12/2013. He is survived by his wife Valerie, two sons Bob and Rich, and 7 grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his daughter Ann. Dale was born in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and after high school he served in the Navy for two years. Dale then attended Yale University
and majored in pre-med where he graduated with honors. He also was a full-back on the Yale University football team. After graduation, he then went to Northwestern University
Medical School and then did his residency at the University of Michigan
. Dale began his long career as a professor of endocrine surgery at the University of Iowa
and then at the University of Colorado for over 40 years. He co-published a surgery manual, "Synopsis of Surgery" which gained national attention. Among Dale's many honors is that he was in the first "Hall of Fame" class for the Badger High School in Lake Geneva. He also served as a visiting professor on the Humanitarian Ship Hope stationed in Ecuador. Dale served as past president of the Western Surgical Society and won many accolades during his long teaching career at the University of Colorado. Dale touched many, many people along his way and we will miss him deeply. The funeral will be held at Wellshire Presbyterian Church, 2999 S.
