I am so sad to hear about this! I grew up with Gene and his sisters. We went to school and church together from early on.
My heart breaks for the family.

I pray for Gene's loved ones.that the Lord would give you strength and comfort and that The Peace of God which surpasses all understanding will mount Guard over your heart and your mind.
Gene was always very kind to me. Even when I knew he was a bit impatient. He was always honest. And was never unavailable. He will be missed greatly by all of us at D49.

To Gene's Family, D-49 Transportation and Friends. As a vendor to D-49 Gene was my primary point of contact, what a pleasure it has been to work with Gene over the last few years. Genes professionalism and genuine care for the "kiddos" was second to none. Gene will be missed.

My condolences to Gene's family on their loss. I've known Gene since I was a little girl. He was my "cousin's cousin" so we shared many family get-togethers. It's been years since I've seen Gene, but my memories are joyful. Gene was like everyone's big brother. I know he will be missed by all.

I grew up with Gene, he is my older cousin, and I spent a lot of time with Gene and his sisters throughout my childhood. I always looked up to him, he was good-natured and easy going, a true optimist who was always pleasant company and a good example to his younger siblings and cousins. We were all proud of his service to our country, but he never expected us to notice it. Gene just did what he felt was the right thing without drawing any attention to himself. I haven't seen him for about 15 years, and over the last six-seven years completely lost track of him, but what I am now hearing from his current friends comes as no surprise to me. He was just a decent fellow who enjoyed life without complaint. I pray for the repose of his soul, and know that I will share his company again in a far better place. My condolences to all who love him.

My prayers go out to Gene and family. I will miss hearing him say good morning Ms Ward how ya doing. He was always willing to work with me so I could keep working part time and still have a route of my own. He will be missed more than words can say.

Gene, I will miss our little talks, we will all miss your wonderful uncomfortableness at our monthly in-service meetings the most. You brought so much joy and happiness to so many lives. I am truly blessed to have gotten to know you for the short amount of time that it was. Thank you for everything you have done for all of us at D49. R.I.P.

Gene you are one of he best bosses I have ever had! I am going to miss seeing you every morning and hearing you greet each and every employee whose crosses your path. I am also going to miss you giving me a hard time every time I would beat you to the coffee pot early every morning. I will especially going to miss hearing you call me Julie Mac and me responding back with G-Ham or Big Boss. You always reminded me so much of my Dad with your calm, kind personality and how your door was always open for anyone who needed it and you awesome sense of humor!! You may be gone, but know that you will never be forgotten....Rest in peace.

Gene's door was always open. I remember joking with him about the frost on the fence and telling him I liked the new decorations outside. He laughed and agreed it was pretty. Gene had servant leadership that I respected greatly. He cleared the snow from our sidewalks to the buses before we even got to work. He was kind and made good decisions for our district. He will be missed.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of cousin Gene's family. I have very fond memories of growing up together in Grand Junction. Gene was a year ahead of me in school, and I always felt as though I had a "Special Protector." Becky and Paul
