I attended yesterday's service. I was a classmate of Doug's at CU in the mid-70's. Dr. Joyce Neville called me with the notice that Doug had died.
Bev Tarver Shulman emailed me and Jack Campbell as well. I came to represent the Class of 75.
The service certainly revealed the depth and breadth of Doug's impact. You and your children helped make him what he was and will continue to be.
God Bless You, Every One!

I hold Doug in fond memory for his willingness to embrace me as a new employee 11-years ago. There is a plaque on the Board Room table with Doug’s name and for years when I would walk into the room he would move his chair over and motion for me to sit in that spot. This was his way of making me feel welcome for which I will never forget. You will forever be missed Doug!

Doug was a very principled manager who put much heart into his work. I spent many hours with him during his term as the Colorado Access Chairman of the Board and though we faced significant challenges he was always supportive of the company, our mission and our staff. More than anything, however, Doug was a family man who loved his wife and children and wanted nothing more than time with them on a Disney cruise. God bless the family that helped mold Doug into the person he became and my heartfelt condolences on your loss of one exceptional human being.

To the Clinkscales family,

All of our love and prayers to you during this time. Doug is a great man that reached out to help all of those in need. And although he is not physically here with us, he can now accomplish that which he would strive to accomplish in mind and body.

I hope I can be just half the man he was in life.

God bless the Clinkscales family,

Doug was one of the most remarkable, competent men I have ever had the privilege to call a friend and colleague. I was so lucky to work with and learn from him. He had a confident forcefulness that demanded respect and attention, as well as a passionate commitment to getting things right...and he made us laugh in a manner that was allll Doug. A compliment he once paid me is one I consider the most meaningful of my career. What an incredibly special man...he will be so sincerely missed. Deepest sympathies to his wonderful family who he loved so much.

Doug chaired the State of Colorado's Medicaid Advisory Committee for many years and brought a wonderful sense of humor, invaluable insight into the business of health care, and most importantly an unrelenting passion for improving access and care for low income residents of Colorado. Our condolences to the family.

Dearest Margaret,

Arms of love and support surround you and most of all, are in you; look left and right to find you are compassed about with comfort and friends. None of us can know your feelings, your loss, your thoughts; but please know that love is eternal, an entity of power and source of strength. As we witness the passing of our loved ones from the realm of visibility to invisibility, we trust wholly the Divine purpose that brought us into these bodies, is the same one that takes us out of them. The gift of love and friendship is present always; Love goes the distance, lasts through time, sustains through all, and shows up in a multiplicity of ways. Be mindful of these kinsmen and watchful for what seems random acts of kindness as these are gifts of love and friendship, manifestations of spirit that support and comfort us through the challenges of this life. I often think of you and trust you know my heart and love for you. Doug is loved and missed and his life in this flesh had purpose, understood or not.

I am unable to attend Doug's memorial service due to out of town work; however, please know that my thoughts are with you and your sons, and I trust you will find the strength you need. Do not hesitate to call upon me for anything at all. Love, Kim Cosley(Jordan) 719 439-5118.

To the Clinkscales family we offer our condolences. Doug was a champion for healthcare to the underserved and I had the honor of working with him in my early career. He always talked about how he had played football for Adams State College in Alamosa which is where I am from. I loved hearing his stories about football games and his San Luis Valley adventures.

Doug, a special person . . . A man of principle, commitment and gratitude. So intelligent, straight talking, humorous, with a twinkle in his eye, and a wink when you weren’t sure if he was serious or just kidding. A dedicated family man, so proud of his wife and children. I miss him, and will never forget the positive influence he made in my life.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I know as you arrived on the heavenly runway the angels sang for joy saying Halleluyah, Halleluyah, Doug has arrived all is well.
Being your sister has been one of my joys. You have always been the one without limits reaching beyound what the eye could see, with only your imagination as your guide. Your life has been full of fun and excitment your dash in the middle is trully a full life. You loved your family and was commited to doing agreat job at what ever you set your hand to.
You will always be in our hearts and minds. Live on Doug. Our loss is heavens gain.
