Katherine Byrne Obituary
Katherine Chorley Byrne, lover of eggplant and taupe, mushrooms and gardenias, passed away on August 18, 2013. She was 77. Kay was born in Denver on September 2, 1935 to Harold and Helen Chorley. She graduated from South High School and the University of Denver with a degree in education. She raised three children, all of whom still live in Denver with their families. Kay was an interior designer, avid mushroom hunter and painter. She is survived by her husband, Cletus "Bud" Byrne, her children (Alex Grossman and his wife Ann, Rachel Grossman and Dan Grossman and his wife Robin Koenigsberg) and her grandchildren (Michaela Grossman, Leah and Adin Grossman and Nina and Zoey Davidson). She is also fondly remembered by her step-children, Betsy Byrne and Rob Clinton and Barbara and Steve Waffle, and step-grandchildren, Anne Clinton and Andrew Waffle. All who knew Kay were touched by her dignity and grace and her gift for aesthetics and beauty, as well as her unwillingness to suffer pretention or bombast. Her rooms, her tables and her gardens were all exemplary of the warmth of her spirit and the kindness of her heart. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Cheesman Gardens Condominium, 1510 E. 10th Avenue, in Denver.
