Dearest Mary, more than 10 years later I am discovering the memories of Mark. I remember when you came into the church body at Faith Bible chapel and began to pray for a husband. Was it possible for God to give you a husband as tall as yourself? What a wonderful blessing you both have been in our lives as we remember you. God's tremendous peace guides you forward.

Years ago, in what was then a newly-minted CU gym in Boulder, I had a conversation with Mark that for some reason never left me. Here was this imposing, good looking athlete and then there was me... all the opposite. Even so, we chatted and he took an interest in my life story... genuinely. That was the "mark" of the man then, and obviously, throughout his the rest of his life. Just recently I had been re-remembering... and so I searched online to discover his passing. A great sadness to me, for I would have liked to tell him that one day I, too, found the Lord. I regret not having time or circumstance to foster our friendship further, but am grateful still for the gift of caring he provided so long ago. - James 2:8

Mark's legacy continues. He is as fresh in my mind as the last time we had lunch together. He loved God and he loved mankind. One can't ask for more than that!

Mary and Family,
Though Mark passed away nearly 9 years ago, I was shocked to learn of his passing today. To me Mark was larger than life. . .in his kindness, in his integrity, in his dedication and in his love for God, his family and so many others. I never heard him say an unkind word to or about anyone.
Instead, he took time to encourage me and others.
I was honored to know Mark and to have been touched by his life.
May his memory continue to be a source of strength and encouragement to you you, now and always.

Eight years have gone by and he is as close in my memory as the last time we had lunch at that Chinese restaurant. His words of wisdom and support are timeless- I often quote his words and life examples to friends and strangers alike.

Dear Mary and family,
So sorry to hear about Mark. I had heard he was fighting so I prayed for him as I imagine many people had. May God wrap His arms around you every moment you need Him. How are the children doing? Love you,

As fellow owners of real estate in an Ocean City, N.J.condo setting, we knew Mark as a kind, considerate person. We knew of his illness, but never heard a complaint from him for what life had to offer.

Hi Mary,
Mark's memorial was beautiful (the photos and eulogies were wonderful). I wanted to talk to you afterward but had to leave to go to work.
Mark was an amazing, kind, intelligent person. He was taken from us before any of us was ready to let him go. I only hope he realized how much he meant to so many of us friends and fellow agents. We will miss him terribly and will hold you, the kids and the rest of Mark's loved ones in our hearts and prayers. Take care and God bless.

I remember Mark and his hearty laughter when we would work together hauling fire wood or when we played for the FBC Saints in the mid 70's. Mark had an old soul for being such a young man. I respected his wisdom....
Thanks Mark...

To the Mark Cooney family: In 1968 I taught Mark at St Anthony seminary and then we stayed in touch after we both had left the seminary. I will never forget his constant happiness and the joy of living he shared with everyone. He was a blessing in my life. Deo gratias for Mark, requiescat in pace.
