SLOCUM, THOMAS J. Lance Corporal, 22 Lance Corporal Thomas J. Slocum passed away March 23, 2003 in Iraq. Thomas was raised in the Thornton area and graduated from Skyview High School in 1998. He joined the United States Marine Corps in the summer of 1997. He enjoyed boating, hunting and drawing. Thomas is survived by his mother and step-father, Terry and Stan Cooper of Thornton; his father and step-mother, Thomas W. and Nanette Slocum of Westminster; his sister Ann Slocum of Thornton; step-sister Amanda Vincent of Westminster; grandparents Ralph and Marylln Johnson of Thornton; Rolland and Virginia Cooper of Westminster; great-grandmother Esther McCord of Westminster; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Micky Johnson and grandparents Jim and Marge Slocum. The public is invited to greet the family Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 North Grant, Thornton, CO 80229. Funeral service open to the public, 11 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233. Graveside services, private, Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas J. Slocum Memorial Fund, in care of North Valley Bank, 9001 N.
