My heart heart bleeds every time I think of Patrick, my soul screams. But as a family and with the help of friends we will heal. It'll take time, but we'll get there.

Kaelin Family,
It has been such a long time that we have been in contact and I hate the circumstances I am doing that now. Patrick was such a joy. I still remember vividly taking the boys to Florida. We are so blessed for having the opportunity to know Patrick and his family even for a short time.

MaryBeth, Bruno, Christy and Danny,
We were so deeply saddened to hear of Patrick's death. We remember his wonderful big smile, and how he was so personable and friendly. We were privileged to know him during our years when we all lived in the "old neighborhood". Our friendship and caring are with you in this time of sorrow.

Mary Beth, Bruno, Christie and Danny,
It has taken me a bit of time before I felt ready to sign this guest book for Patrick. We are still in shock and can only imagine how you must be feeling. No one can know your pain, we can only be here to support you and help you through.
Keep the memories of Patrick close to your heart as we hold our memories of him close to ours. He was a wonderful young man and will be greatly missed.
Take each day one step at a time and know you have many family members and friends ready to listen, cry, whatever it is that you need.
With all our love,

Mary Beth,
For someone who rarely stops talking and is trying to establish a second career at writing, I am at an utter loss for words. What does one say to offer comfort to such dear friends? I wish it were like when my kids were little and I could just put a Batman Band-aid on the boo-boo, and make it all better for you, Bruno, Christy, and Danny.
When your mother called me last week, I felt a little crack in my heart, which split wide open when I had to tell "my" Patrick. Remember when we used to have to distinguish them like that? I stayed up half the night talking to Cassie on facebook, and went to the Immaculate Conception mass at Notre Dame the next day just to be around the kids!
I remember when I moved back to Chattanooga, wanting absolutely NO part of it, but then God put you in my path. I can still see Patrick's big smile as he introduced himself after riding his bike to our house shortly after we moved in. I don't know what I would have done without you as a sounding board for all of the "what-seemed-so-terrible" adventures into parenting. They all seem so very trivial now!
I wish I could be there for you now, to hold your hand, wipe your tears, take a long walk in the neighborhood, or even make you laugh in sharing some of the latest Beairsto's Law stories.
I want you to know that Patrick's old Chattanooga, Signal Mountain, St. Augustine, Notre Dame's friends are thinking of you guys and we are having a memorial mass for him next Wed. night, the 23rd, at St. A. Wish Father Pete could be there!
Please know that you are forever in my thoughts and prayers...your entire family, and especially your mother who was so grounded and brave when I spoke with her!
Please come for a visit! I miss you!
Angela

Dear Mary Beth,
I just want to say how sorry I am to hear about Patrick. Yesterday I told the story to a friend about the time I ran into your house to see if you could go to the hospital with me and there you sat at the high chair feeding the baby(Patrick). When you put down the spoon and grabbed "the baby" and ran out the door.
And the times I used to cut his hair because he wouldn't let the hair dresser cut it, and Bruno had to stand there so he wouldn't cry.
MaryBeth it seems like yesterday.
Brian & I, Kristen and Kelly are thinking of you, Bruno, Christy and Danny at this time of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My family and I are truly sorry to have heard about Patrick's passing. Patrick's smile was always the brightest in the room, and was the same (but taller) as he was when left Notre Dame. As you go through this tumultuous time my family and I will be lifting you up through our thoughts and prayers.

My dear friends, your loss is so great, and all of my words are so small...I cannot even imagine how to begin to tell you how my heart is breaking for you...I treasure my memories of Christy & Patrick in St. Augustine's youth group...and one of my very favorite photos of Patrick was an "in the air" photo of him on a snow board! His smile, his giant heart, his kindness, his generous spirit...the list of things that I remember about him would fill a book! Please know that my heart and prayers are with you, your family and friends as you grieve...there are no words...I can only say I am sending my love,

Mary Beth and Bruno,
Steve just called me from Spokane and said someone from Canada called him today asking about Patrick. Oh my God! I am soooooooo sorry. Words can't express the emptiness we feel in our hearts for your family. No one can know the overwhelming grief a mother and father feels from the loss of a child. It just isn't suppose to happen this way. Steve and I too lost a child earlier in life and can feel every bit of your pain. It just isn't fair. I feel your anger, sadness and pain. Please, if there is ANYTHING we can do - cry with you! comfort you, bring meals WHATEVER! That is what we are here for. We love and cherish your friendship. Please let us help in any way possible to help ease in your pain. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. God bless your family through this time! Luv you!
