R. Scott Hall died unexpectedly on October 23, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on August 16, 1967. He lived in Hastings and Lincoln, Nebraska before moving to Evergreen, Colorado, in 1981. Scott graduated from Evergreen High School in 1986 and earned a Political Science degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1991. Upon graduation he lived in Denver where he started his career in the banking industry working for Hedlund Mortgage Company. In 1995, Scott became senior mortgage banker for the Bank of Cherry Creek and was named to the Denver Business Journal's Who's Who Among Up & Comers. Scott married Audrey Lenschow in May of 1996. The couple moved to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1997 and to Davis, California, in 2001. During this time Scott worked for the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA). In 2004, the Hall family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a cancer survivor, Scott altered his career path in 2007 and became the District Executive Director for the
Great West Division. In 2011 he returned to banking as President of ICBA Mortgage Solutions until his passing.
Family and friends were an integral part of Scott's life as was his true passion, serving as a volunteer coach for a multitude of youth sports. This included several competitive youth baseball, basketball, and football teams in the Colorado Springs area. In addition to coaching, Scott was an avid sports fan and a dedicated follower of his alma mater Colorado Buffaloes Football Team. Other hobbies Scott enjoyed were traveling with his family, golf, and fly fishing.
Scott is survived by his wife of 16 years, Audrey, their 3 children Andrew (16), Jennifer (14), and Ethan (10); mother Judy Hall, of Lone Tree, Colorado; father and stepmother, Larry and Jeffe Hall of Colorado Springs; brother Jeff (Tami) Hall of Lone Tree, Colorado; their children Benjamin, Abbie, and Joshua; brother Michael Hall of Castle Rock, Colorado; brother Bryan Hall of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandfather Sidney Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska; aunt Nancy Van Horn of Lincoln, Nebraska; and uncle Herb (Linda) Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska. He is also survived by a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Stella Hall and grandmothers A. Jane Wiest Johnson and Vienna Krull Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs. Scott will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado. Pallbearers will be Andrew Hall, Ethan Hall, Jeff Hall, Michael Hall, Bryan Hall, Larry Hall, Donald Lenschow, and Herb Johnson.
A charitable organization, the Robert Scott Hall Field of Dreams Foundation, is being formed to help achieve Scott's dream of increasing participation and improving facilities for youth baseball in the Colorado Springs area. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorial donations to this Foundation, or to the
, West El Paso Baseball Organization, or the Discovery Canyon Booster Club.
