Thomas Hampton Thornburn II, 67, of Denver, CO died peacefully at Highline Rehabilitation and Care Facility on April 17, 2013 from complications of the liver. Born on Oct. 24, 1945 in Marquette, Mich., of Thomas and Mary Thornburn, his family moved to Champaign, IL. when Tom was a baby. He graduated from Champaign High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the USAF specializing in geodetics. He returned to Champaign where he attended the University of Illinois and Parkland College. In 1968 Tom moved to Denver, CO where he resided for the rest of his life. Tom loved the outdoors, auto racing and good times with family and friends. He was a fierce debater and devil's advocate, a knowledgeable handy man and accomplished woodworker. If you were an underdog, Tom was on your side. Although never having had any of his own, he loved children and was loved in return. He is survived by his three brothers, John (Lynn), Timothy (Malcolm), and Robert (Patricia). A private family service will be held. Donations may be made to Boys and Girls Club or your favorite children's charity.
