Harold Keith Allen Obituary
96, of Scottsdale, AZ will be remembered with military honors, followed by a memorial service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3696 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80235, on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., in Staging Area B. Presiding over the memorial service will be Rev. John Gaudreau, OEF, Pastor of Denver's Christ Congregational Church. Welcome all. Harold Keith Allen passed away peacefully on May 30, 2013 with his children and son-in-law at his bedside. "Keith" to friends and family, he was born August 10, 1916 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was a 1939 graduate of the University of Nebraska, College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Journalism. In World War II he served America in the United States Navy aboard the battleship USS Alabama. He worked nearly 30 years as a caseworker and casework supervisor for the Denver Dept. of Welfare and State of Colo. Dept. of Social Services. Keith was a devoted and loving husband for 67 years to Sara Mae Allen, who passed away Dec. 12, 2008 (Keith and Sara are pictured, 1942). He is survived by brother Neil Allen; daughter Susan Allen Cadwell; sons David Allen and Bruce Allen; grandchildren Troy, Jennifer, Christopher, Zach and Jeremy; and great grandchildren Keith, Maggie and Cassidy. Admired by family for his zany sense of humor, an untouchable left-handed tennis serve, and unabashed candor, Dad is very much alive in our memories. Keith was a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A. He also was an avid vegetable gardener. Last but not least, he cheered on his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers for 78 years. After living in Colorado for 5 decades, Keith retired to Arizona in 2004. His ashes will be interred side by side with his beloved wife Sara Mae at Ft. Logan.
