Ayako Wada Mayeda Obituary
92, died Nov. 3, 2013 in Redondo Beach, CA. She was born in Seattle, graduated from the University of Washington, Tokyo Women's Medical School, and the University of Colorado Medical School, Denver. She was a physician in the Denver area until the age of 90. Dr. Wada was the Chairwoman for the Denver-Takayama Sister Cities for 20 years, as well as active within the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League. In June of 2002, she was the recipient of the Commendation of the Japanese Consul General. She was married three times and the widow of Dr. Takashi Mayeda and Dr. Walter Weld. Ayako Wada is survived by a son, three grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday Nov. 16 at the Simpson United Methodist Church, 6001 Wolff St., Arvada, CO. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to the Ichiyo Uyeno/Ayako Wada Mayeda Memorial Scholarship fund at the Simpson United Methodist Church. There will be a private burial at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, CO and at Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont, CO.
