Gerald Hans Leak, 84, of Midway, Virginia died peacefully Sunday, January 26, at home of complications from a stroke. He was surrounded by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, daughter and grandchildren as they read, sang and held his hand on his last days. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, Gerald was born in Mingo, Kansas to Cora and John Leak and grew up with two brothers and one sister. He met Kathleen McConnell of Midway in 1949 and they were married in 1955. They started a family in Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and other family members. Gerald is survived by his wife of 58 years, son Gary (Ellen) Leak, daughter Gara (Bruce) Bridwell, 6 grand-children and 2 great grand-children in Colorado, California, Alaska and Montana, his brothers Mel and Duane (Dolores), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A good and gentle man who loved his family and was a friend to everyone he met. A Memorial Service will be at the Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, 12900 W. Alameda Pkwy. in Lakewood on Saturday, February 8. Visitation will be at 1 pm and service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Green Mountain Presbyterian Church or, the Action Center Food Bank.
