Funeral services for Coach Robert Wade Brown will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 7 in the First Baptist Church of Oakdale with Rev. Danny Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens in Elizabeth under the direction of Rush Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Coach Brown, 47, of Elizabeth entered eternal rest on Sept. 4, 2013 in M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Robert was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where he was very involved with youth ministry. He was a 1984 graduate of Elizabeth High School and a 1989 graduate of McNeese State University. He was a teacher and coach for over 20 years. He also taught driver's education and adult CDL certification. Robert had a special place in his heart for special needs children and was proud to support the Special Olympics. He was a loving son, husband, brother and father, and was known by his community as a Godly man. Robert always said, "his world revolved around his three girls, his wife and two daughters."
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of 21 years, Dorothy "Dot" Brown of Elizabeth; two daughters, Taylor DeAnne Brown and Tori Louise Brown, both of Elizabeth; his parents, Roy and Dianna Brown of Elizabeth; his mother-in-law, Diane Clifton of Leesville; and two brothers, Ray Brown and Ricky Brown, both of Elizabeth.
Friends may call from 4-11 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the First Baptist Church of Oakdale, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the church.
