Gordon Earl Miers, Sr., 81, of DeRidder, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Gordon Earl was born on January 17, 1935 in DeRidder. He graduated from DeRidder High School, and joined the United States Navy soon after graduation. He would serve many years in the Navy and the Merchant Marines. He finished out his military career as a warehouse supervisor at the Fort Polk Commissary before retiring.
Mr. Miers was a man of strong conviction, who believed in "calling it like he saw it", and never apologizing for the truth. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Miers was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Miers, Sr.; his sister, Peggy Ann Maddox; and two brothers, Harold Wayne Miers and Richard H. Miers, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Gordon E. Miers, Jr., and his daughter, Brenda Mae Miers, both of DeRidder; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Funeral service is on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder. Officiating the service will be Brother Joshua Waters and Dr. Ray Clark.
Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
