Winfred Riley Brister, 67, of Rosepine, La., passed away at his home peacefully on Jan. 3, 2014. Winfred was born Aug. 8, 1946 in DeRidder, La., to the late Riley and Audrey Brister. During his life, Winfred coached children's football and was a big fan of the New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and arrowhead recovery.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patsy McCloud. Left to cherish memories of Winfred will be his wife Gayla Brister of Rosepine, La.; son, Kevin Brister of Rosepine, La.; daughter, Vickie Strother of Rosepine, La.; brothers, Scottie Brister, Stanley Brister, James Brister; grandchildren, Candace and Mark Cain, and a wonderful host of extended family and friends.
The Brister family will welcome guests for visitation Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Bro. Charles Best and Deacon Guy T. Lewis will be officiating celebration of life services on Wednesday, Jan.8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home. A funeral procession will lead family and friends to the grounds of Whitaker Cemetery in DeRidder, La.
The family will like to send a special thank you to Heart of Hospice for their wonderful care and service and also a thank you to his longtime friend and employer, Robbie Stuart.
